It’s an absolutely new, innovative and promising type of Neurofeedback that previously wasn’t available in Dubai and entire Middle East.
Unlike a traditional Neurofeedback, MCN is imperceptible to the patient and doesn’t require active patient participation in procedure , it lasts only around 15-20 min in total and can bring a lasting and sustainable effect in a limited number of sessions.

Micro Current Neurofeedback produces fast results in a limited number of sessions, and the ease and simplicity of treatment all distinguish it from a traditional neurofeedback device. Micro Current Neurofeedback produces a measurable change in the brainwaves without conscious effort from the individual receiving the feedback. The technology was invented by IASIS technologies. Its competence and reliability were put to test in the USA for over 15 years, with a record of more than 100,000 patients.

MCN Mechanism:
MCN’s main function is to monitor and stimulate change in stuck and frozen brainwave patterns to a healthy state without any conscious effort from the recipient. Healthy brainwaves aren’t to be affected throughout the process.
It uses a low-power electromagnetic field (3 Pico or 3 trillionths of a watt) to transmit feedback to the recipient, which travels down the same wires as the brainwaves to the amplifier and computer. The low power ensures the safety of the treatment as none of its +100,000 users experienced unpleasant conditions and symptoms.

Despite the weak MCN signal, it can still produce measurable changes in brainwaves without conscious effort from the recipient. Change occurs as feedback frequency is correlated with the dominant brainwave frequency, and when exposed to this frequency, the EEG amplitude distribution changes in power. This results in a changed brainwave state and a greater ability for the brain and nervous system to regulate itself.
MCN is known to profoundly influence the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, as well as the central nervous system, and affect brain chemistry in ways that still require further study.

MCN Indications:
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): in mild to moderate TBI cases, patients will see a distinctive and consistent improvement in clarity, memory, multitasking, and energy.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): MCN boosts resilience and the patient’s ability to handle stress by finding peace in stressful situations. Therefore, it decreases PTSD and anxiety.
ADD/ADHD: it aids the brain in accommodating with the deficits, increasing attention and reducing symptoms such as distraction, impulsivity and hyperactivity.
Substance Abuse: it helps in refraining from addictive substances usage through treating depression and anxiety and increasing pulse control.
It also treats migraines, Lyme disease, Epilepsy, memory disorder and many other areas that impact patient’s daily lives.

MCN Sessions:
Pre-session:

MCN is to be prescribed by doctors according to patient’s condition and the number of sessions required. It is only to be performed by trained doctors and clinicians.
Patients don’t need to stop or reduce their medication before enduring MCN.
Application:
While seated, five EEG electrodes will be placed at different areas on the head and neck, after the areas are cleaned off and conductive paste is applied to hold the electrodes. The electrodes position may vary throughout the course of treatment.
Duration:
The first session can last from 15-30 minutes and then sessions will take 15 minutes.
Time is adjusted according to the feedback received prior to the session as well as to patient’s response to the session. It also depends on the choice of protocol between 5 settings and the different sensitivity levels.
Number of Sessions:
The number of required sessions varies from a patient to the other, according to each condition and needs. The typical number is 10-20 sessions.
First, patients will endure 1-5 sessions a week then the time between sessions will increase until treatment is completed.
After completion, some cases may require tune up or booster sessions.
Change:
Noticeable change can be perceived after the first few sessions, between 2-5 sessions.

Post Session:

Patients will experience deep calmness, peacefulness and well-being.

Side effects:

Side effects are temporary and would last for only few minutes to few hours including mild headaches, light-headedness, and weariness.
Traditional Neurofeedback VS Micro Current Neurofeedback
Traditional Neurofeedback requires +40 sessions each lasting for 15-30 minutes, where patients are required to do the most part by training their brain waves to manipulate events on the screen, generated based on information carried from the brain to the computer without carrying any signals back to the brain.
While Micro Current Neurofeedback requires 10-20 sessions depending on each patient. During the sessions, patients only need to sit still and allow the device to do most part of the treatment. The device measures brainwaves and carries information from the brain then sends back signals to regulate brainwaves.

Micro Current Neurofeedback demands less effort and provides almost immediate results from a limited number of sessions therefor, it is favored over Traditional Neurofeedback.
